History:

Giovanni comes from a patriarchal, strict, and prejudiced family. He was born of a non-monochromatic father and a monochromatic mother. His great great grandfather, who was the head of the family at the time, staunchly disapproved of the relationship between Gio's mother and father. His father was given the ultimatum to revoke his marriage to the woman or suffer being cut off from the family. Much to the dismay of Gio and his then pregnant mother, his father chose to appease his great grandfather and revoke the marriage. The young Gio and his mother were cast out and cut off from the rest of the family.

Till that point, he and his mother had been living comfortably. It was hard for his mother to find any sort of job at the time. She was finally hired by a well-off family as a maid. Not surprisingly, this was barely enough for the small family to get by. Gio's mother often forfeited eating so that her son might, despite being pregnant. The hour for his little sister to be born struck quite suddenly, in the middle of the night. Gio ran quickly to find the town's mid-wife to help his mother. Once the delivery had been dealt with, the mid-wife came out and turned the baby girl over to Gio who only looked up at the woman confused. He peered into the room behind her to see that his mother had died. The woman then offered to help him into an orphanage the next day, as she was tired. Once she'd left, Gio packed what few things he had and took his baby sister and left the house.

He refused to go live with other strange children that would likely pick on him and his sister only with the hope that some family would be merciful and adopt them together. At the same time, he couldn't travel with a burdensome, squealing baby in tow. Also, at this point, she wouldn't even know he existed if he separated himself from her now. He decided that was best, and left her on the doorstep of one of the surrounding buildings in town. After he felt he'd knocked loudly enough on the door for good measure, he hid in a nearby bush to make sure that his sister was indeed taken in. Once that was verified, he set off on his own path.

He traveled and lived off the land, eventually settling in the vicinity of a town that held some Italian-speaking humans within the population. Giovanni grew fond of their ways and their language, and eventually found himself changing his own name to something of Italian origin. He often picked fights when he was younger, less often at present though. This may come as a surprise considering he almost died in his first fight had it not been for the luck of his power suddenly kicking in. Gio found he was able to will his body into the form of various weapons, and practiced the skill in private. He still bares the reminder in the form of a scar on his chest. He found odd jobs to do around the town from those who would let him. One such person happened to be teacher who offered to teach Gio instead of pay him. While Gio was apprehensive about the offer at first, he accepted; he figured he would need it eventually anyway. Once Gio reached adulthood and had finished schooling under the teacher, he moved on from that town.

Gio made use of his talents over the next few centuries and took on missions from private clients, involving protection or even assassination, for which he was paid handsomely if the job was done well. He primarily enjoyed work that involved protection, not because it was easier, but because he could brawl with any assassin he caught up to. This eventually became too routine for him, and Gio finally decided to settle down again on the outskirts of a small town. He'd saved up enough funds to live comfortably in that home. Retirement, he found, was not the answer either—besides he was still fairly “young.” He became restless once more. He then remembered not too long ago that a client of his had told him his monochromatic son had been attending an all monochromatic academy. That was it! He felt new fervor at the prospect of imbuing the next generation with his own years of knowledge. He promptly looked up information on the school and discovered they had an opening for a weapons instructor—right up his alley.

• He prefers to wear his rings on his left hand.


• He has a layer of tapetum lucidum in his eyes which allows him to have eyeshine.


• Apart from the collection of poison rings he owns and wears, he wears a gray cat's eye ring which houses his pet, a soul tiger named Phobos. Once released, the tiger mimics Gio's feelings and appears as a tiger cub but will grow and become more feral if Gio is angered.
